Shue's character will have a history with Danson's, D.B. Russell, who fired her when she worked for him in Seattle.
In its new Wednesday 10 p.m. time slot, "CSI" is holding up well averaging 11.2 million total viewers and a 2.7 ratings among adults 18-49 through the first seven weeks of the season.
Shue earned an Oscar nomination for "Leaving Las Vegas," and has starred in other films including "The Karate Kid" and "Adventures in Babysitting."
